ME
My name is Thomas Ponsioen. I am an independent environmental consultant, specialised in measuring product environmental impact.
Wageningen University is the number one agricultural university in the world
After graduating I worked at Wageningen University on several international research projects with topics such as resource management in rice based cropping systems in Asia, economic effects of EU dairy policy scenarios and water and nitrogen efficiency of wheat and barley in Mediterranean countries.
Blonk Consultants is the consultancy for agri-food LCA
At Blonk Consultants I supported and advised governmental and non-governmental institutes, international and Dutch sector organisations, such as the gelatine, horticulture and animal feed sectors, and various companies in the agri-food sector, such as Heineken, Nutreco, VION Ingredients and Suikerunie, with environmental footprinting.
PRé CONSULTANTS IS FAMOUS FOR SimaPro & EXCELLENT LCA EXPERTISE
At PRé Consultants I contributed to significant projects such as the implementation of the internationally renowned database Ecoinvent in the world’s leading LCA-software SimaPro, the EU financed LCA-IMPACT project for the development of life cycle impact assessment methods, and the Environmental Footprint Pilots project for the European Commission as technical helpdesk supporting several pilots developing product environmental footprinting rules of their product categories.
Wageningen Economic Research has a great network of public & private partners
At Wageningen Economic Research I have worked with The Sustainability Consortium framework with retailers and caterers, such as Aldi, Superunie, Sligro, Albron, Bidfood and Sodexo, and their suppliers. I also contributed to projects for the estimation of the true price of products (external costs of product life cycle impacts), LCA projects on products such as beef, pork, dairy, coffee, tomatoes and table grapes, and the development of product environmental footprint rules for horticultural products.
